OFAC Search

The Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC) as part of its enforcement efforts, published a list (OFAC Search List) of individuals and companies owned or controlled by, or acting for or on behalf of, targeted countries. This OFAC Search also lists individuals, groups, and entities, such as terrorists and narcotics traffickers, designated under programs that are not country-specific.

Collectively, the OFAC Search calls such individuals and companies "Specially Designated Nationals" or "SDNs." Their assets are blocked and U.S. persons are generally prohibited from dealing with them. Industries such as financial, travel, insurance, export/import, or securities are required by the OFAC Search to report any contact they've had with people believed to be SDNs.
