Federal District Criminal Searches
A Federal District criminal search contains federal cases only. Federal district criminal searches include but are not limited to cases where state lines were crossed during the crime (large drug sale cases, illegal alien) and federal crimes (bank robberies, kidnappings, some conspiracy cases, tax evasion, mail fraud) and crimes that are committed on federal property.
Federal district criminal searches are accessible instantly via an electronic index, which matches federal cases by name only. If there is a name match in any of the districts, court documents need to be ordered in order to verify any identifications for the name searched, such as a date of birth or social security number. Federal district criminal searches often do not have these identifiers.
Please be sure to review the average turnaround time for court documents.
Important Information
When a record is found on the index with no identifying information, USA-FACT reports that record as a name matched record only and advises our clients to continue the federal district criminal searches by ordering court documents to attempt to obtain identifying information matching the record with your applicant.
Court document retrieval costs between $40 - $100 to order and do not constitute a guarantee that there will be identifying information on the court documents. All disputed information by the applicant that cannot be confirmed will have to be removed by law. If you have any questions regarding ordering court documents or the federal district criminal records search process, contact our Service Support Center at 800.547.0263.
