Comprehensive County Criminal Record Search

The most accurate county criminal record search available in the country is located in more than 3,200 county courthouses. The county courthouse is where most county criminal record search information originates and is the source for State and National repositories. Each county differs in its methods of disseminating information but most have an accessible county criminal record search index that can be searched by court researchers. Only about 1000 of the 3,100 counties in the country have electronic access to county criminal record search information, but that total is increasing every year.

A county criminal record search is a seven-year search of all criminal cases (unless otherwise stipulated by client), open or closed, filed against an individual defendant in the highest court in the county of the search. All felony conviction information discovered in the county criminal record search conducted at the courthouse will be returned, regardless of the date except in those states with limitations on reporting records. Misdemeanor record information will be returned only when available in the same court searched for the felony record.

A county criminal record search consists of one name searched in one county. Each name and county thereafter, is considered a separate search. Turnaround time can be affected by common names and missing dates of birth. Pulling an archived record can also delay turnaround time. Clerk fees or court document retrieval fees, if applicable, will be billed as additional charges. When a record is found on the index with no identifying information, USA-FACT reports that record as a name matched record only and advises our clients to continue the research by ordering court documents to attempt to obtain identifying information matching the record with your applicant. Court document retrieval costs between $40 - $100 to order and do not constitute a guarantee that there will be identifying information on the court documents. All disputed information by the applicant that cannot be confirmed will have to be removed by law.
