USA-FACT verifies the following information with a Civil Records Search.

  • Superior Court Filings
  • Municipal Civil Court Filings

Civil law is the body of laws regulating private matters as distinct from criminal, political and military matters (i.e., torts, complaints for money, complaints for damage). Civil records are maintained at the county level in Superior, Municipal and Justice Courts. These records may reveal information pertaining to the plaintiff, defendant, particulars of the action, remedies and awards. A civil records search is a search of all Superior Court (Upper Court) civil lawsuits filed within a county on behalf of or against an individual unless otherwise requested. A county civil records search consists of one name searched in one county. Each name and county thereafter, is considered a separate civil records search.

Records are available dating back 7 years for most counties, some counties keep records for longer periods of time. The civil records search helps identify high-risk candidates that may become a liability. Court fees may apply and vary by location. County Civil records search on average take longer to process than County Criminal records and can be searched by name only. Further indicators are sometimes available through the ordering of court documents for an extra charge.
